The Minnesota Department of Education’s series of Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Topic Area Meetings continues this week.

A meeting regarding “School Improvement” (including differentiated school improvement) is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, April 12, in Conference Center B (Room 15) at the MDE office in Roseville.

According to the MDE website, the purpose of the meetings is to share and clarify the ESSA law and to collect important stakeholder feedback that will inform future workgroups.

Given that final guidance from the U.S. Department of Education is not expected until October, MDE does not expect to reach consensus during these meetings, nor to produce final recommendations for implementation. However, the input gathered from these meetings will have a significant impact on shaping Minnesota’s new system.

MSBA encourages its members to attend one of these meetings. Please see the remaining topics and schedule below.
