Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) was elected today to serve as the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. The National School Boards Association (NSBA) looks forward to working with Speaker Ryan during his tenure to advance priorities critical to the success of our nation’s public schoolchildren.

In addition to the passage of a modernized Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), NSBA stands ready to work with Congress proactively to advance the NSBA Delegate Assembly’s priorities — such as local school board governance, early childhood education, child nutrition, reauthorization of Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), career and technical education, and education investments — to maximize student achievement.
