No. 8: Added responsibilities for school districts

Here are just a few of the laws passed that will add more work for school district staff:

  • Annual training is now required for paraprofessionals who provide direct support to students with disabilities
  • Requires school district to have a 10-year facilities maintenance plan adopted by its board and approved by the commissioner
  • School districts are now required to pay a one-time cost for juniors or seniors who take the ACT test, which must be offered at the high school

There are many more new requirements for school districts that you can learn about in MSBA’s 2015  Legislative Summary. Take a look at pages 21 and 22.
