No. 9: School district flexibility
Here are just a few of the laws passed that empower local decision-making:
- For 2015-16, schools may begin on Sept. 1
- Flexible use of staff development revenue for principal and teacher development and evaluation and teacher mentoring
- Expanded flexibility on teacher licensure, such as allowing a candidate to submit a portfolio, granting 2-year provisional licenses or issuing up to four 1-year temporary teaching licenses to a qualified candidate who has not yet passed a board skills test.
