Elections Bill has new board-vacancy filling provisions that go into effect on July 1

The Omnibus Elections Bill (SF 455) was signed into law by Gov. Mark Dayton on May 22.

One of the more complicated provisions is the new requirements for filling a school board vacancy with more than one year left in the term.

If you have a vacancy you will want to read MSBA’s bill summary (see below) carefully and get some sound advice. Please note this provision goes into effect July 1.
