MSBA at the Capitol — How the House and Senate omnibus education finance bills stack up

Please click here to view a comparison of the House and Senate omnibus education finance bills that were unveiled this week.

The most important aspect of these bills remains the less-than-adequate proposed additions to the general education funding formula.

The Senate bill adds a 1 percent increase to the funding formula for the next biennium (fiscal years 2016 and 2017) and the House bill proposes an even lower increase of 0.6 percent.

MSBA continues to advocate for a 3 percent increase for both years of the next biennium. Legislators need to hear from YOU. Please contact them and asked them to support at least a 3 percent increase on the general funding formula.
